Kalahari Adventure
Overview
This is the most practical and scenic 5-days Central Kalahari Game Reserve. February is the ideal month to travel as it is lush and green, newborn antelopes like Oryx’s and springboks
Route: Gweta or Maun → Matswere Gate → Deception Valley → Sunday/Piper Pans back to Matswere Gate → Gweta or Maun
Itenary

Day 1: Gweta → Deception Valley (CKGR)
06:00–08:00 departure from Gweta or Maun. (5 hours): tar to Rakops, then 50 km sand to Matswere Gate.

Afternoon
Enter park -: straight into afternoon game drive in legendary Deception Valley. Look for black-maned lions, cheetah on the open plains, and the springboks

Overnight
Exclusive wild campsite in Deception Valley (bucket shower, bush loo, campfire dinner under a ridiculous starfield).

Day 2: Deception Valley & Passarge Valley
Morning and afternoon game drive to exploration of the fossil river valleys, track lion prides, giraffes, cheetahs, honey badger, brown hyena etc

Overnight
Wild camping in Passarge Pans (one of the most scenic sites in CKGR).

Day 3: Passarge → Sunday Waterhole & Piper Pan
Long but stunning game drive south (3 hours on sand). Visit Sunday Waterhole and the vast Piper Pan system – excellent for cheetah and huge herds of oryx & springbok.

Afternoon
Afternoon explore Piper Pan: attracting sandgrouse at dawn/dusk.

Wild camping on the edge of Piper Pan.

Day 4: Piper Pan → Letiahau Waterhole area
Morning drive to Letiahau (pumped borehole – one of the only permanent water points), Great chance for big lion coalitions and giraffe

Late afternoon
Slow cruise looking for aardwolf and bat-eared foxes emerging at dusk

Overnight
Wild camping near Letiahau – last night of total wilderness

Day 5: Letiahau → Gweta
Early final game drive, then head north to Matswere Gate.

Drive ~6 hours drive back to Gweta. Drive 6 hours back to Maun
